Tuition Assistance Initiative

Program Type: Education-focused sectarian grant program

Background: Recognizing the value of a Catholic school education and desiring to make it more accessible to all students, the Kenedy Foundation began providing tuition assistance grants in 2004.

Recipients

• All Catholic schools in South Texas
• Catholic schools with demonstrated needs in other Texas dioceses
• Several Catholic and public universities

Funding

• Frequency: As funds allow, the size of grants has slowly increased over time
• Purpose: Direct tuition assistance to make Catholic education more accessible

Focus

• Primary: Making Catholic school education accessible to students who might otherwise be unable to afford it
• Secondary: Support for higher education at Catholic and public universities in Texas

Application

• Follows standard grant application process
• Submit by October 15th annually for May Board consideration
• Requires same documentation as general grants program
