VICE Conference (Virginia Institute on Cooperative Education)

VICE Conference

The Virginia Cooperative Council sponsors an Institute on Cooperative Education (VICE), a youth leadership conference for up to 64 Virginia high school students held annually in the spring. Local high school and home school students from A&N Electric Cooperative's service area are eligible to attend.

Geographic Scope: A&N Electric Cooperative service territory (Virginia)

Objective: To educate youth about the unique cooperative form of business

Awards: Top performers during the conference have the opportunity to receive up to $2,000 in educational scholarships

Focus Areas:

• Cooperative business model education
• Youth leadership development

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be 16 to 19 years old as of July 1, 2023
• Live within the cooperative's service territory
• Current high school or home school student
• Submit a qualifying essay

Essay Details:

• Topic: "What are the Benefits of the Cooperative Model of Business to the Eastern Shore?"
• Minimum 150 words
• Must be typed
