Examples include programs that promote: Literacy, reading and writing skillsPrograms in the languages, sciences and interdisciplinary areas We believe interaction has a powerful positive impact on literacy, reading and interdisciplinary studies. Our Objectives The Bessie Minor Swift Foundation awards grants to programs that provide direct service to: help with the implementation or expansion of literacy programs for children who are below grade level or experiencing difficulty readingdevelop programs in the literacy, STEM, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) and Interdisciplinary areas for preschool, primary and secondary school-aged studentsdevelop reading and writing skills at all age levels Grant Amount The minimum grant request that will be considered is $500 and the maximum grant request is $5,000.Eligibility

Grants are made only to nonprofit organizations certified as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are classified as “not a private foundation” under Section 509(a). Eligible public charities include the full range of charitable organizations, including educational, museums, libraries, governmental institutions, arts organizations, and publicly supported charitable organizations formed for charitable purposes.Only nonprofits located in Washoe County, Nevada; Ada and Canyon Counties, Idaho; and, the North County area of San Diego County, California will be considered.Ineligibility
