Sidney Phillips Memorial Scholarship Grant

The Sidney Phillips Memorial Scholarship, established in 2022 by the TSHP Research and Education Foundation, honors past TSHP President Sidney Phillips. This scholarship supports Texas pharmacy students, emphasizing financial need, academic merit, and a commitment to hospital practice. With awards ranging from $500 to $1,500, it encourages future pharmacists to excel in their careers while fostering community strength within the pharmacy profession.

TSHP Research and Education Foundation
The TSHP R&E Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for Texans by funding numerous activities that advance healthcare through pharmacy research and education. Today, the Foundation’s managed assets and cash total around $918,000.
TSHP R&E Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships of $500 to $1,500 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability and career interest.
The Sidney Phillips Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 in honor of Sidney Phillips, who was a past President of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Dr. Phillips served in various leadership positions in TSHP since he was in pharmacy school and was a longtime member whose dedication to the Texas pharmacy profession was actively demonstrated to all who knew him. Dr. Phillips dedicated his career to health system leadership for small and large hospitals. He was also firm believer and supporter of advocacy on all levels.

Eligibility

Applicants should:
Be an active member of TSHP, andBe a native Texan (born in Texas), andBe in good academic standing. GPA may be considered in the selection process,Career interest in working a hospital, andBe a full-time pharmacy student at a Texas school or college of pharmacy; preference will be given to students currently enrolled in the Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy.
