Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship Grant

The Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship, established in 2002, supports students of Hispanic heritage pursuing pharmacy education in Texas. With scholarship amounts ranging from $500 to $1,500, it aims to promote academic excellence and assist students with financial needs.

The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) is a dynamic professional membership association which serves Texas health-system pharmacy professionals dedicated to the mission, vision, core values, philosophy, soul, spirit, and motto of TSHP.

TSHP Research and Education Foundation
The TSHP R&E Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for Texans by funding numerous activities that advance healthcare through pharmacy research and education. Today, the Foundation’s managed assets and cash total around $918,000.
TSHP R&E Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships of $500 to $1,500 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability and career interest.
The Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship was established in 2002 by TSHP Past President (1999-2000) Lourdes M. Cuéllar in honor and memory of her parents. This scholarship was created to provide qualified students of Hispanic heritage with an opportunity to complete a pharmacy education. The goal of the Cuéllar Scholarship is to promote academic excellence and to afford an opportunity for a student with financial need to reach their fullest potential.
Mr. and Mrs. Cuéllar grew up during the Great Depression and highly valued education. They saw education as a pathway toward personal fulfillment and contribution to society, and supported their three children in aspiring to rewarding professional careers. This mantra was also passed along to many other extended family members and children within their community in San Antonio, Texas. Lourdes fondly recalls that she, as well as her siblings were “carded” – i.e. received an I.D. card to the public library as soon as they could read.

Eligibility

Applicants should:
Be a full-time student at any Texas college/school of pharmacy, andBe a member of the TSHP student chapter at their school/college of pharmacy, andDemonstrate compassion and spirit of helping others by being active in school and community service, andBe in good academic standing. GPA may be considered in the selection process.
