Scholarships of $500 to $1,500 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability and career interest. Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship The Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship was established in 2002 by TSHP Past President (1999-2000) Lourdes M. Cuéllar in honor and memory of her parents. This scholarship was created to provide qualified students of Hispanic heritage with an opportunity to complete a pharmacy education. The goal of the Cuéllar Scholarship is to promote academic excellence and to afford an opportunity for a student with financial need to reach their fullest potential. Mr. and Mrs. Cuéllar grew up during the Great Depression and highly valued education. They saw education as a pathway toward personal fulfillment and contribution to society, and supported their three children in aspiring to rewarding professional careers. This mantra was also passed along to many other extended family members and children within their community in San Antonio, Texas. Lourdes fondly recalls that she, as well as her siblings were “carded” – i.e. received an I.D. card to the public library as soon as they could read.Eligibility
