Eustacio Galvan Memorial Scholarship Grant

The Eustacio Galvan Memorial Scholarship, established in 2003, honors a distinguished leader in health-system pharmacy, Eustacio Galvan. Funded by the TSHP Research and Education Foundation, this scholarship supports full-time pharmacy students in Texas, emphasizing financial need and academic excellence. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500, with a preference for applicants of Hispanic/Latino descent. This initiative continues to strengthen the pharmacy community and promote high standards in patient care.

TSHP Research and Education Foundation
The TSHP R&E Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for Texans by funding numerous activities that advance healthcare through pharmacy research and education. Today, the Foundation’s managed assets and cash total around $918,000.
TSHP R&E Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships of $500 to $1,500 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability and career interest.
The Eustacio Galvan Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 to honor Eustacio Galvan, a Past President of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists (1971-1972) and a former member of the Board of Directors of the R&E Foundation. Eustacio was a local leader in health-system pharmacy practice in the Houston-Galveston area while serving for 34 years as the Director of Pharmacy at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. A 1959 graduate of the University of Texas College of Pharmacy, Eustacio promoted improvements in the practice of pharmacy during his entire professional career.

Eligibility

Applicants should:
Be a member (student section) of TSHP, andBe a full-time pharmacy student at any college/school of pharmacy in Texas, andHave a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in their professional coursework.
