Safeway Foundation - Portland Grant

The Safeway Foundation, part of the Albertsons Companies Foundation, focuses on supporting nonprofit organizations in Portland, OR, and SW Washington that align with their mission to improve community quality of life. Priorities include health services, hunger relief, education, and supporting diversity. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, aimed at organizations with a 501(c)(3) designation, ensuring funds are directed towards impactful programs and community initiatives.

NOTE: We review applications monthly. At the close of the application process, it typically takes us at least 2 WEEKS to review and get back to you.
Our stores provide the opportunity to mobilize funding and create awareness in our neighborhoods through our employees’ passion, partnerships with our vendors and the generous contributions by our customers.

Outside of a specific RFP, a first-time funded organization will typically receive a grant of $1,000-$5,000.

Eligibility

We only support organizations with a valid 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS and schools recognized by the government.Organizations we fund must serve the community where we operate.To learn more about our operating area, please view our online map.A nondiscrimination policy will be requested of all applicants.

Ineligibility

Although we would love to help everyone, the Foundation generally does not fund:Individuals or for-profit organizationsPolitical organizations or activitiesReligious organizations for religious purposesCapital or building campaignsAdvocacy programsMeetings, conferences or workshopsSports teams or athletic competitionsOther foundations or granting organizationsFundraising dinners, galas, and events. We generally do not sponsor these events because the sponsorship is not fully deductible and because we prefer that our funds go directly to program services rather than offsetting event expenses.Our Foundation does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
