Richard Cadle Mentoring Scholarship for Pharmacy Leadership Grant

The Richard Cadle Mentoring Scholarship for Pharmacy Leadership, established in 2017, honors Dr. Richard Cadle's legacy in mentoring pharmacy leaders in Texas. This scholarship, funded by the TSHP Research and Education Foundation, awards $500 to $1,500 to pharmacy residents based on financial need and academic merit. It emphasizes the importance of compassion, community service, and leadership within the pharmacy profession, aiming to inspire future generations of pharmacists in Texas.

TSHP Research and Education Foundation
The TSHP R&E Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for Texans by funding numerous activities that advance healthcare through pharmacy research and education. Today, the Foundation’s managed assets and cash total around $918,000.
TSHP R&E Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships of $500 to $1,500 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships from the Foundation are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic ability and career interest.
The Richard Cadle Mentoring Scholarship for Pharmacy Leadership was created in 2017 after the sudden passing of the scholarship’s namesake. Dr. Richard Cadle cared deeply about mentoring the future pharmacy leaders of America as shown with his dedication to students, residents, colleagues and his extensive involvement in the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TSHP) and its Gulf Coast Affiliate. Throughout his distinguished career he started the first five residency programs at the Michael E. DeBakey Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Houston, Texas. As a proud member of the United States Navy, he served his country by helping teach new generations of brave young men and women the value of hard work and perseverance. This scholarship is the first of its kind to be solely dedicated to helping pharmacy residents throughout Texas. Dr. Cadle provided an incredible amount of encouragement and assistance to so many people and we hope this scholarship fund will help to carry his legacy for future pharmacy generations to come.
