Overview

JEF General Fund Grants

Purpose: Provide funding for Jewish and non-Jewish organizations that significantly benefit the Jewish community.

Geographic Scope: Louisiana (applicant organization must be based in Louisiana)

Focus Areas: The Grants Committee is responsive to requests that help:

  • Launch new initiatives

  • Expand successful existing programs

  • Address an emerging critical need

    • Limited funding may also support:

  • Jewish youth leadership programs

  • Jewish seniors' needs

  • Women's education and development

  • Music and theater projects

    • Eligibility:

  • Organization must be a 501(c)(3) in the state of Louisiana

  • Program must align with JEF's mission and purpose

    • Award History: JEF General Fund Grants averaged $2,500 last year. 2022 grant recipients included:

  • Anti-Defamation League – South Central Region

  • Avodah – New Orleans

  • Home is Here New Orleans

  • Long Vue House and Gardens

  • Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra

  • National Council of Jewish Women

  • National World War II Museum

  • Moishe House – New Orleans

    • Processing Timeline: Each grant cycle may take up to two months to process, so recipients will not receive notification and funding until early May or early November.

    2. Complete the application with information about your organization and proposed program
    3. Submit the completed application to Jessica Brasseur at jessica@jefno.org

    Application Deadlines

    Applications are reviewed twice a year:

  • Spring Grant Cycle: Applications must be submitted before March 1

  • Fall Grant Cycle: Applications must be submitted before September 1

    • Note: Processing may take up to two months, so recipients will not receive notification and funding until early May or early November.
