NOTE: Funding decisions for Henry John Simonds Foundation will be made during two cycles each calendar year. While grant applications to the Foundation are accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis, note the following application submission periods:

The Henry John Simonds Foundation focuses its grantmaking in the areas of education, urban agriculture and design, the arts, and community development with the goal of creating a more equitable, healthy, and environmentally sustainable future for all.

Eligibility

Applicant organizations must be classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and as public charities under Section 509(a) of that code.The geographic focus of the Foundation’s grantmaking program is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and New York City.The Board reserves the right to approve grants in other locations at its discretion.While the Foundation entertains requests from a wide variety of organizations, most grants are initiated at the direction of the program staff and Board of Trustees of the Foundation.

Ineligibility

The Foundation is not permitted to fund individuals, but it will consider a limited number of scholarships and fundraising events.
