Grants are available for projects that reflect California Indian values and practices, ensuring cultural continuity and community engagement.Overview
Supporting California Indian culture bearers, artists, lifeways, and knowledge transmission. How we help Initiated and lead by Native peoples, the Native Cultures Fund is a partnership between Native Nations, the Humboldt Area Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and other donors. The program supports the transmission of knowledge between generations through the renaissance of California Native art culture, sacred sites, and language development. Grants are made to projects that reflect the transmission of knowledge across generations, based in California Indian culture, art, values, and traditional practices. We define culture in the broadest possible way: As the foodways, languages and cosmologies, ceremony, sacred sites, sports, architecture, arts, teachings and knowledge systems, stories, music, dance, land stewardship, hydrology, maritime traditions, and much more that are indigenous to California.Eligibility
