Hansen Family Trust Christian Endowment Fund Grants

The Hansen Family Trust Christian Endowment Fund Grants, administered by the Humboldt Area Foundation, support local and international Christian organizations, focusing on Lutheran activities. Grants aim to enhance racial equity, economic development, and support for vulnerable communities within Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties in California, as well as Curry County in Oregon. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations and public benefit groups committed to charitable projects in these regions.

Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation's strategic goals of racial equity, just economic development, healthy ecosystems and environments, and thriving youth and families drive our funding priorities and resource allocation. Our grants aim to minimize vulnerability and increase equity to strengthen institutions, providers, and leaders across our rural and native lands.
Chris S. Hansen, who died in 2002, created this fund as a testamentary gift to honor his family members who preceded him in death: his wife Frances; his parents, Nick and Mary; and his three brothers, Harold, Melvin, and Roy. Fund expenditures are made with the advice of family, local Lutheran pastors, and a financial advisor. Grants from this fund support Christian organizations, both local and abroad, with an emphasis on local Lutheran activities.

Eligibility

HAF+WRCF grant funding supports charitable programs and projects in our region (Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties in California, and Curry County, Oregon). Non-profit organizations, public benefit organizations (including churches, educational organizations/schools, hospitals, government units, tribal governments, etc.), groups working with a qualified fiscal sponsor, and other organizations and groups working on charitable projects are eligible to apply for grants.
