Overview

Background In his will, the late Charles F. Lindig set aside a portion of his estate for the benefit of projects directed towards the religious, charitable, educational, cultural, recreational, or economic welfare of the Borough of Lewisburg. Mr. Lindig wanted this fund to serve as a living memorial to his grandparents, Charles F. Lindig and Sarah Bobb Lindig and to his parents, Fred W. Lindig and Nettie Walter Lindig. According to his will he did this, “In grateful appreciation of the opportunities accorded to my family by the Community of Lewisburg.” Lindig Lewisburg Foundation Fund Lindig Lewisburg Foundation Fund was established by the late Charles F. Lindig. Through his will, he set aside a portion of his estate for the benefit of projects directed towards the religious, charitable, educational, cultural, recreational or economic welfare of the Borough of Lewisburg. General Criteria for Reviewing Requests Address community needs and/or opportunities in innovative and creative ways Result in attainable and measurable goals Illustrate financial strength to ensure long-term self-sustainability, especially when seeking start-up or seed funding Show collaboration with other nonprofits without duplicating efforts Leverage or generate other funding sources and/or propose use of grant to attract matching funds

Who May ApplyNonprofits organizations that are qualified to receive tax-exempt contributions as defined by the IRS – in the vast majority of cases, applicants will be 501(c)(3) organizations, or a unit of local government as described in Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue CodeNonprofit organizations without 501(c)(3) status may work through another qualified 501(c)(3) organization that is willing to serve as a Fiscal SponsorApplicants outside of the Borough of Lewisburg may apply only if a major function of their program or project is to serve the Borough of Lewisburg

Previously awarded nonprofits are not eligible to submit a new request until five (5) years have elapsed; there must be four (4) intervening years of grants to other nonprofitsIneligible Requests Annual campaigns Costs that were or will be incurred prior to the anticipated grant approval date Endowments General operating expenses, including salaries for current staff positions Multi-year funding, on a case-by-case basis Operating or program deficits Re-granting, on a case-by-case basis Requests from individuals Organizations with outstanding or overdue final reports from previous grants cannot apply
