Teacher Excellence Awards

Overview: The Houston Association of Professional Landmen Tribute to Education awards recognizes teachers in the Houston Area who have gone above and beyond in their respective fields to promote education, creativity, self-discipline, and motivation to the students they have touched during their tenure as an educator.

Geographic Scope: Houston Area

Focus Areas: Recognition of teaching excellence in secondary education and specialized areas

Landman Eligibility (Nominator Requirements):

  • Must be an Active, Life, or Honorary Life member of HAPL

  • Must be eligible to vote for the last three consecutive years

  • Must have current dues

  • If transferred to Houston within the last three years, must have been a member of HAPL for a minimum of six months and provide proof of membership from the local organization from which they were transferred

    • Teacher Eligibility (Nominee Requirements):

  • Can work in private or public school environments

  • Must be secondary education level (Junior, Middle, or High School)

  • Elementary school teachers who work in specialized areas (all sorts of special needs) are eligible

  • Can be related to nominating Landman

  • No limitation on subjects taught

  • Teacher nominations can be made on a yearly basis; however, only one award will be given per teacher

    • Award Details:

  • Recipients are introduced and presented with their awards at the Tribute to Education luncheon in May

  • Event is held at the Petroleum Club of Houston

  • Landmen are encouraged to attend the luncheon
