Student Scholarships - College

The Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL) student scholarship program provides monetary aid to support qualifying college students enrolled in AAPL-accredited undergraduate programs pursuing a career in land management.

Geographic Scope: Not restricted; AAPL-accredited programs nationwide

Focus Areas: Support for college students pursuing careers in land management through AAPL-accredited undergraduate programs

Eligibility:

• Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an AAPL-accredited undergraduate program pursuing a career in land management
• Scholarship program is not intended for graduate level students
• Applicant must be a Student Member of HAPL (free membership available)
• College scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of merit
• Preference will NOT be given to applicants with a parent who is a member of HAPL
• Students with a full scholarship from a college or university or a full grant from other sources are not eligible to apply
• Past recipients of HAPL college scholarships are not eligible to reapply
• Any member of HAPL who is a familial relative of an applicant may not participate on the Scholarship Committee

Award Details:

• Scholarship payment will be made prior to the Fall semester after HAPL receives proof of enrollment
• Checks will be made payable to the institution and scholarship recipient
• If a student fails to provide proof of enrollment by August 1, an alternate student will be awarded the scholarship

Background: Recipients will be honored at the HAPL Scholarship and Tribute to Education Luncheon held in May at the Houston Petroleum Club.

Application Process

Required Materials:

• Fully completed scholarship application
• Transcript (if required)
• Two letters of recommendation
• Picture in JPEG format for records (will be used in HAPL newsletter if selected)

Deadline: Must be postmarked on or before March 15

• Late or incomplete applications will not be considered

Timeline:

• Scholarship recipients will be notified prior to the HAPL Scholarship and Tribute to Education Luncheon in May
• Payment made prior to Fall semester after proof of enrollment received
