Overview

Student Scholarships - High School

Overview: The Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL) student scholarship program was created to recognize graduating high school seniors of current members and support their pursuit of higher education.

Geographic Scope: Greater Houston area

Focus Areas: Support for graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from the greater Houston area

  • Parent must have been an Active, Life, or Honorary Life member of HAPL eligible to vote for the last three consecutive years and current on dues

  • If the parent has been transferred to Houston within the last three years, said parent should be a member of HAPL for a minimum of six months and provide proof of membership from their previous local organization

  • Students may only apply if they do not anticipate a full scholarship from a college or university or a full grant from other sources

  • Any member of HAPL who is a familial relative of an applicant may not participate on the Scholarship Committee
  • Award Details:

  • Scholarship payment will be made prior to the Fall semester after HAPL receives proof of enrollment

  • Checks will be made payable to the institution and scholarship recipient

  • If a student fails to provide proof of enrollment by August 1, an alternate student will be awarded the scholarship

  • Transcript (if required)

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • Picture in JPEG format for records (will be used in HAPL newsletter if selected)
