Operation Round Up Scholarship

Eligibility

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Be an entering college freshman

  • Be one of the following:

  • - A member of South Plains Electric Cooperative, OR
    - A spouse, child, or stepchild of a member, OR
    - A child whose guardian is a member, OR
    - A person living in a home where the landlord is a member
  • Reside in the Cooperative service area

  • Participate in Operation Round Up (applicants will be automatically enrolled if not currently participating)

  • Attend a qualifying school
  • Qualifying Schools

    Abernathy, Anton, Aspermont, Childress, Chillicothe, Coronado, Cotton Center, Crosbyton, Crowell, Estacado, Floydada, Frenship, Guthrie, Hale Center, Idalou, Jayton-Girard, Lorenzo, Lubbock-Cooper, Lubbock, Monterey, Motley Co., New Deal, New Home, Olton, Paducah, Patton Springs, Petersburg, Plainview, Post, Quanah, Ralls, Roosevelt, Ropesville, Rotan, Shallowater, Slaton, Southland, Smyer, Spur, and Wilson. Private school and homeschooled applicants are subject to eligibility verification.

    • Educational goals
    • Required Qualities: Honor, integrity, thrift, and good moral character
    • Essay responses are heavily weighted in selection decisions

    Continuation Requirements

    • Satisfactory scholastic performance must be maintained
    • Appropriate personal standards must be maintained

    About Operation Round Up

    Operation Round Up was established in 1993. Funds are generated by South Plains Electric Cooperative members who opt to round up their monthly bills to the next dollar (averaging $6 per year). These funds support scholarships, teacher mini-grants, and community assistance programs.
