Overview

Tallmadge Foundation Quarterly Grants

Geographic Scope: Tallmadge, Ohio community

Foundation Mission: To foster, enhance and support educational, cultural and recreational enrichment in the community of Tallmadge.

Funding Focus Areas

Applications are welcome for activities including but not limited to:

  • Innovative projects/programs to enrich learning and development

  • Cultural events and fine arts projects/programs

  • Seminars, workshops, lectures and symposiums

  • Recreational projects/programs
  • What the Foundation Does NOT Fund

    • Grants to individuals for personal benefit
    • Capital equipment (unless an imperative part of the whole project/program)
    • Operating budgets
    • Functions covered by tax dollars
    • Previously incurred debt

    Application Deadlines

    Quarterly deadlines:

  • January 15

  • April 15

  • July 15

  • October 15
  • Applications must be submitted by the deadline to be considered.

    Grant Terms & Conditions

    • Grantees must use funds only for the purpose described in the grant application
    • Projects/programs must be completed and funds expended within 13 months after the date of the award letter
    • Upon completion, grantee must submit a follow-up report and return any unexpended funds within 6 weeks
    • Grantees must notify the Foundation immediately if they cannot perform in accordance with grant terms, materially change their mission or activities
    • Organizations grant the Foundation permission to use organization names and logos in marketing and promotional materials (print and online)

    Review Criteria (Scoring Rubric)

    The Allocations Committee evaluates applications on:

  • Consistency with Foundation's mission (20 points)

  • Clarity of project statement (5 points)

  • Clear objectives (10 points)

  • Clear procedures, methods, and materials (10 points)

  • Tentative schedule and completion date (5 points)

  • Evaluation plans and probability of success (10 points)

  • Reasonable and detailed budget with fiscal responsibility (10 points)

  • Evidence of self-sustainability or clear conclusion point (10 points)

  • Uniqueness and innovation to the community (20 points)
  • Review Process

    Based on committee recommendations, the Foundation may:

  • Approve an application for funding

  • Request additional information

  • Ask applicant to attend a review meeting

  • Return application with resubmission suggestions

  • Reject the application
  • The Allocations Committee presents recommendations to the Executive Committee for approval. The Committee Chair notifies awardees once approvals are complete.

  • #### Required Narratives

    1. Project/Program Mission Abstract
    - Explain how your proposal fits the Tallmadge Foundation's Mission Statement

    2. Project/Program Outline
    - Specifically outline the scope, objectives, and steps to completion of your proposal

    3. Financial Information
    - Indicate if there are any other applications pending for this proposal
    - If yes, specify number of applications and amount requested

    4. Budget Details
    - Show your project/program budget in detail
    - Be as specific as possible
    - Examples: honorarium, audio/video needs, room rental, advertising, etc.

    5. Evaluation Procedure
    - Indicate how you will evaluate the success of your project/program
