Math Engagement Program for LA Young Learners

Overview: A three-year initiative to improve math outcomes for transitional kindergarten through second grade students through family engagement programs and multilingual, technology-based learning materials.

  • Focus on schools serving historically marginalized students (Black, Hispanic, low-income)

    • Background: Based on research showing only about one-third of California students are proficient or advanced in math (2023-24 CASPP results), with much lower rates for historically marginalized groups. Research demonstrates early family engagement can significantly boost children's math achievement.
