Organization: Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA)

Geographic Scope: Japan-based pharmaceutical researchers traveling to the United States

Program Description: Brings eight young researchers from Japan's pharmaceutical industry to the United States annually to learn about U.S. healthcare policy, pharmaceutical research, regulatory practices, and translational research. Program launched February 2013.

Program Structure:

• Two-week program in the United States
• Locations: Washington, D.C., New York-New Jersey, and Boston
• Meetings with government, industry, and academic stakeholders

Participant Profile:

• Young researchers from Japan's pharmaceutical sector (public and private entities)
• Professionals currently working in or interested in pharmaceutical development

Program Goals:

• Provide insights into how U.S. government, pharmaceutical companies, and universities collaborate
• Strengthen understanding of translational research and commercialization
• Build networks between U.S. and Japanese pharmaceutical researchers
• Support healthcare innovation and development
