Purpose

Lake Forest Garden Club is dedicated to the advancement of gardening, the promotion of horticultural knowledge, and the stimulation of community interest in conservation and civic improvement. The Club supports community initiatives, educational programs, and projects through grants funded by Club fundraising activities.

Geographic Scope (Priority Order)

• Lake Forest and Lake Bluff
• Lake County, Illinois
• Greater Chicago area

Funding Preferences

LFGC prefers to fund projects and organizations that:
• Are accessible to the public
• Focus on:
- Environmental education programs - Conservation programs - Restoration of historic gardens and landscapes - Design services and/or planting materials for local public garden projects
• Are single year projects or programs
• Have strong, documented partnerships with other community organizations
• Will have significant impact on the proposed project with LFGC funding

What LFGC Does NOT Fund

• General operations or salaries
• Marketing or promotional requests
• Production of collateral materials
• Event sponsorship of any kind
• Seed money or start-up programs

Important Notes

• Careful consideration is given to multi-year commitments to avoid financially encumbering future Boards
• Late submissions will not be accepted during that calendar year
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted
