Overview

International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund

Overview: Provides scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. or Canada. Scholarship based upon demonstrated need; however, award is not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses.

Award Amount: Maximum of $12,500. Lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs.

Geographic Scope: For international women students studying in U.S. or Canada

Eligibility Period: September 15 to December 15

Award Conditions

  • At time of application, applicant required to indicate additional financial resources adequate to meet estimated expenses
  • Examples of additional resources: personal and family funds, tuition waivers, work, scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants and other scholarships

Eligibility Requirements

A woman is eligible if she:

  • Is a woman outside the United States and Canada seeking advanced degree from accredited college or university in U.S. or Canada

  • Will return to home country to utilize education to make positive impact and foster global peace

  • Has a full year of formal coursework remaining and is enrolled and in residence in U.S. or Canada for entire school year

  • OR is an international student attending Cottey College
  • Ineligibility Criteria

    • Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations are not eligible as first-time applicants
    • Student who is citizen or permanent resident of United States or Canada is not eligible
    • Student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted
    • Scholarships not given for online courses, research, internships or for practical training if not combined with formal coursework

    Timeline

    • Applications accepted September 15 to December 15 each year
    • Applications will be accepted again starting September 15, 2026
    • Announcement of awards made in May

  • Application form

  • Evidence of demonstrated financial need

  • Documentation of additional financial resources (tuition waivers, scholarships, work, etc.)

  • Academic records and transcripts

  • Proof of enrollment and in-residence status for full academic year

  • Evidence of intention to return to home country
  • Decision Timeline
