Overview

International Peace Scholarship Fund (IPS)

Purpose: Provides scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. or Canada.

Geographic Scope: For international women studying in United States or Canada

Award Amount: Maximum amount of $12,500; lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs

Award Basis: Need-based (though not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses)

Required Additional Resources: At time of application, applicant must indicate additional financial resources adequate to meet estimated expenses, such as:

  • Personal and family funds

  • Tuition waivers

  • Work/employment

  • Scholarships

  • Teaching assistantships

  • Study grants

  • Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be a woman outside the United States and Canada
    • Must be seeking advanced degree from accredited college or university in U.S. or Canada
    • Must commit to return to home country to utilize education to make positive impact and foster global peace
    • Must have full year of formal coursework remaining
    • Must be enrolled and in residence in U.S. or Canada for entire school year
    • OR must be international student attending Cottey College
    • Student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted

    Ineligible Applicants

    • Doctoral students who have completed coursework and working only on dissertations (as first-time applicants)
    • Citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada
    • Students enrolling in online courses only
    • Students pursuing research, internships, or practical training not combined with formal coursework
