International Brotherhood of Boilermakers IEC Scholarship Program

Overview: The International Executive Council (IEC) Scholarship Program provides educational funding to dependents of Boilermakers union members across multiple local lodges.

Geographic Scope: United States and Canada

Eligibility:

  • Dependents of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers members

  • Must meet IEC Scholarship Program eligibility requirements (details available at www.boilermakers.org)

  • Applicants must be accepted into an accredited college or university, community college, recognized technical or trade school, or graduate school at the time the award is issued
  • Award Amounts by Program:

  • Local 13 (Philadelphia): $8,000 academic scholarships (awarded over 4 years at $1,000/semester for 8 semesters); $2,400 vocational scholarships (awarded over 2 years at $600/semester for 4 semesters)

  • Local 83 (Kansas City, MO): $3,000 scholarships

  • Local 105 (Piketon, Ohio): $2,000 Don Storey Scholarship Awards

  • Local 108 (Birmingham, Alabama): $1,000-$2,000 scholarships

  • Local 146 (Edmonton, Alberta): $1,000-$2,000 scholarships

  • Canadian Federation of Labour (CFL): $1,000 CAD scholarships for Canadian members

  • International Award: $1,000 scholarships
  • Selection Criteria:

  • Academic performance/college aptitude test results (for Local 13, administered and graded by St. Joseph's University)

  • Volunteerism and community involvement

    How to Apply:
    1. Visit the scholarship resource page at www.boilermakers.org for application details
    2. Dependents of Local 13, Local 83, and Local 108 members who meet IEC eligibility requirements may apply separately to their respective local lodges for additional awards
    3. Dependents of Local 105 and Local 146 members who apply for the Boilermakers IEC Scholarship are automatically considered for their respective local lodge award programs
    4. Dependents of Canadian members who apply for the Boilermakers IEC Scholarship are automatically considered for the CFL scholarship program

    Required Materials:

  • College aptitude test results (for some local lodges)

  • Proof of acceptance to accredited educational institution
