Eligibility

• Open to new, full-time freshmen or transfer students
• Qualified music students selected by audition
• Must be actively enrolled and participating in a band or choral group at Lakeland

Award Details

• Award is renewable
• Continued enrollment and participation in a band or choral group required for renewal

Application Process

1. Apply for Music Department Scholarships through your Future Muskie Portal
2. Select an audition time through the portal
3. Prepare audition materials (refer to audition requirements)
4. Complete audition before Music Department faculty

Audition Requirements

Band Competitive Audition:

• Play two contrasting solos (use WSMA Class A solo list or equivalent, or WSMA State Honors Audition etudes as guideline)
• Scales
• Sight-reading

Vocal Competitive Audition:

• Sing two memorized contrasting classical art songs OR musical theatre solos with accompanist
• Use WSMA Solo/Ensemble list or equivalent as guideline
• Testing of range, vocal timbre, flexibility, and sight-reading

Accompanist Requirements

• Vocal auditions require an accompanist (pre-recorded accompaniments not allowed)
• Bring your own accompanist or request one from the Music Department (at no charge)
• Submit legible copies of audition music 2 weeks prior to audition date if requesting departmental accompanist
