Fall Grant Cycle- Special Interest Funds

The Fall Grant Cycle by the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia supports organizations in Martinsville and surrounding areas that provide essential services to children, families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. This initiative focuses on enhancing health and quality of life through various charitable projects. Grants are awarded for specific purposes, typically not exceeding one year, and do not support deficit reduction or religious programs. This funding opportunity encourages impactful community engagement.

Community foundations began nationally in 1914 and are publicly-supported, 501(c)(3) philanthropic organizations that hold, administer, invest and make grants from both endowed and non-endowed funds established by individuals, families and others.
Today, we administer many hundreds of named endowment funds ranging in size from a minimum of $10,000 to millions of dollars.
Focus Area
Supports organizations whose mission and/or program aligns with one or more of the following:
Provides services to children and families.Provides services to assist handicapped/disabled persons.Provides services to the elderly.Promotes the health and quality of life (including, but not limited to):Providing breast health services and encouraging the development of diagnostic treatment options for residents, orProviding other charitable activities and projects that improve the quality of life.

Eligibility

Organizations located in, and serving City of Martinsville, and the counties of Henry and PatrickThe Foundation supports qualified nonprofit organizations

Ineligibility

Foundation grants are usually awarded for the accomplishment of a definite purpose within a specified time period – normally not more than one year. The Foundation’s discretionary funds typically do not support deficit reduction, endowments, fundraising events, sectarian, fraternal or religious programs, or individuals.
