Winter Grant Cycle- Community Impact Funds

The Winter Grant Cycle by the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia supports initiatives within the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick. Grants are usually awarded for specific purposes within a year and exclude support for deficit reduction, religious programs, or fundraising events. This program fosters impactful contributions to enhance community welfare.

Community foundations began nationally in 1914 and are publicly-supported, 501(c)(3) philanthropic organizations that hold, administer, invest and make grants from both endowed and non-endowed funds established by individuals, families and others.
Today, we administer many hundreds of named endowment funds ranging in size from a minimum of $10,000 to millions of dollars.
The Foundation holds and administers a number of Unrestricted Funds. These funds were established by donors to meet a broad range of community needs as determined by MACF Board and staff. Collectively, these funds will be called, "Community Impact Funds".

Eligibility

Geographic Location:City of Martinsville, and the counties of Henry and PatrickFoundation grants are usually awarded for the accomplishment of a definite purpose within a specified time period - normally not more than one year.

Ineligibility

The Foundation's discretionary funds typically do not support deficit reduction, capital campaigns or endowments, fundraising events, sectarian, fraternal or religious programs, or individuals.
