CFDC: Herington Community Legacy Grant

The Herington Community Legacy Grant, established in 2019 by The Community Foundation of Dickinson County, aims to support nonprofits in the Herington area. It prioritizes funding for community development, arts, education, and health services. Eligible organizations may apply for both this grant and the Community Foundation's Grant Cycle. However, it excludes funding for general operating expenses, capital campaigns, and individuals, emphasizing projects that foster collaboration and volunteerism.

You may be requested to attend a grant application review appointment with the Grant Committee. We will advise and schedule grant review appointments as we receive grant applications.
The Herington Community Legacy Fund was established in 2019 to assist nonprofits in the Herington area. Nonprofits that meet the required eligibility may simultaneously apply for the Herington Legacy Grant and the Community Foundation's Grant Cycle.
Funding Priorities
The Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Dickinson County, Kansas. Funding priorities include projects that:

• Develop or test new solutions to community problems
• Address prevention as well as remediation
• Provide assistance to underserved community resources
• Provide leverage for generating other fund and community resources, both financial and volunteer
• Provide a sustained and transforming effect for a substantial number of residents
• Build organizational capacity and improve the effectiveness or efficiency of nonprofit groups
• Provide a favorable ratio between the amount of money requested and the number of people served
• Facilitate cooperation and collaboration among organizations without duplicating services
• Encourage volunteerism, civic engagement, and development

Ineligibility

Funding Limitations- In general, this grant does not support:General operating expenses (salaries, supplies, administrative overhead)Capital campaigns (support of construction or renovation of a facility; also known as bricks and mortar)Endowment campaigns; annual campaigns; fundraising events (including, but not limited to, the purchase of tables at dinners, ads in program booklets, and raffle tickets)Travel grants (fees for field trips or other travel-related expenditures)Sponsorship of sports teamsPreviously incurred debt or retroactive funding for current projectsOther grant-making organizationsIndividuals (except designated scholarship funds) & independent scholarly research projectsReligious or sectarian programs, political parties, or campaignsOrganizations operating for fewer than two yearsOrganizations that have delinquent reports from previous Community Foundation grantsProjects that provide traditional medical care; carry on propaganda or otherwise attempt to influence legislation within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code section 495(e); attempt to influence the outcome of any specific public education, or carry on directly or indirectly any voter registration driveThe Herington Community Legacy Grant Fund will not support the purchase of fireworks.
