Overview

Women in Philanthropy Since their founding in 2003, the members of Women in Philanthropy have built an endowment of more than $1.3 million. Since 2006, over $1 million grants has been awarded to nonprofit organizations throughout Beaufort County. The Women in Philanthropy Fund is an endowed giving circle fund that continues to grow in perpetuity. The fund is invested prudently and provides grants to help strengthen families and individuals in the areas of arts and culture, community development, education, the environment, health, and human services. Grantmaking The grantmaking focus of Women in Philanthropy is strengthening families and individuals in the areas of arts and culture, community development, education, the environment, health, and human services. With this in mind, the advisory committee will establish the criteria for each cycle of funding for grant-seeking nonprofit organizations. We are pleased to announce that the theme selected for 2026 grants is “ Bridging the Gap: Employment, Basic Needs, and Family Stability.” Through a focus on building pathways to long-term self sufficiency, WIP seeks to support organizations that help individuals and families move beyond paycheck-to-paycheck survival in Beaufort County. WIP recognizes that barriers toward achieving self sufficiency can be encountered in a variety of areas including: child care, financial literacy, food, health care, housing, transportation, employment opportunities and wages, and education. WIP anticipates funding organizations who have planned or are planning innovative approaches toward surmounting these obstacles, empowering their constituency to build pathways toward long term self sufficiency.
