The Foundation prioritizes six areas for funding:

• Elimination of Poverty: Grants to organizations providing food and nutrition programs, case management, and supportive housing for homeless individuals. Also funds organizations that inform policymakers and opinion leaders about poverty issues.
• Youth Development: Grants to organizations providing services to youth (under 21 years) with focus on education, mentoring programs, and after-school programs for at-risk, disabled, or underserved youth populations.
• Health and Medicine: Grants to organizations providing comprehensive health care services, with focus on improving health and healthcare for direct beneficiaries.
• Education: Grants to organizations providing educational programs, scholarships, internships, and fellowships at K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
• The Arts: Grants to organizations providing programs related to music, art, creative writing, and dance.
• Environment: Grants targeting environmental awareness activities and programs to improve the environment.

Eligibility Criteria

• Organizations must be Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) organizations that are not private foundations
• Not eligible: Individuals, annual fund drives, building campaigns, major equipment, or activities exclusively benefiting members of sectarian or religious organizations
• Grants are by solicitation only — the Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant requests

Proposals are evaluated based on:

Relationship to Foundation's mission

Geographic limitations

Policies and eligibility criteria

Thoughtful and careful planning

Organization's record of sound fiscal management

Organization's likelihood to meet stated objectives

Funding Timeline

• Approval Timeline: Funding received within 2-4 weeks after Board approval
• Reapplication: Prior grant recipients may be invited to reapply, though prior funding does not guarantee future approval
• Denial Appeals: Applicants will be informed in denial letter whether they can resubmit in future
