Overview

Purpose of Grant To increase equity in access to advanced courses, including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and dual-credit courses, for high school students who currently have very limited or no access to advanced courses, through virtual instruction, blended instruction, or other evidence-based learning methods. Program Goals Through funds from the ACA Program, Grant Awardees will: Increase access to advanced courses for students, particularly in districts with very limited or no access to advanced course offerings.Decrease financial and administrative burden on schools and districts for providing access to advanced coursework.Provide high-quality, targeted support for Certified NYS Teachers.Provide high-quality, targeted support to students to ensure success.Identify, evaluate, and share experiences in effective practices for increasing student access to – and success in – advanced courses. Funding and Awards $1,500,000 will be allocated per year for Years 1 and 2. The maximum annual grant award will be $500,000. One grant will be awarded to the highest-scoring BOCES-led consortium proposal. One grant will be awarded to the highest-scoring Big 5 School District proposal. All remaining BOCES-led consortium and Big 5 School District proposals will be combined into one pool, and the highest-ranking proposals from the combined pool will receive the remaining awards until funds are exhausted. No more than two NYC proposals will be awarded.
