In filing year 2025, HPEF reported 10 grants totaling $52,475. The grants ranged from $1,975 to $12,000, with a median of $4,500. Notable awards included $12,000 to Preservation Maryland for translating hands-on preservation training videos and posting them online for Spanish-speaking tradespeople; $10,000 to the Landmark Society of Western New York for a traditional trades program; and $6,000 to the Guam Preservation Trust for an outdoor oven repair and revitalization workshop. Other grants included $5,000 each to Revolution Workshop for historic preservation trades training opportunities and to the Preservation League of New York State for traditional trades video shorts.

HPEF’s Partners in Training guidelines describe individual grants of $5,000–$20,000, covering no more than 50% of a project’s total cost. Projects must be undertaken in the United States, and applicants must be U.S.-based organizations. The guidelines identify educational institutions and nonprofit organizations as applicants and require an eligible project to be distinct from the applicant’s ongoing activities, led by a qualified initiative chair, and supported by a reasonable budget. Proposals for direct construction costs and wages are discouraged; preference is given to projects with other funding and broad or ongoing impact.

For Partners in Training, the application materials listed include the initiative chair’s and key participants’ resumes, a preliminary schedule, letters of intent from the primary organization and partners, and a budget showing project costs, revenues, requested funds, and other support. HPEF states that it makes contributions only to preselected charitable organizations and does not accept unsolicited requests.
