Overview

Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation manages more than 275 permanently endowed funds. These funds were created by families, individuals, businesses and organizations to address a particular charitable purpose in our community. Because these funds reflect the diverse interests of our community, they are able to provide grants to a wide variety of community programs. Community Foundation staff will match your request with those endowed funds whose charitable purpose would be served by awarding a grant to your program or project. Representatives of these funds will review your application and make grant recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. (You should not directly solicit any particular fund or fund representative.) The Board has the sole authority to authorize grants from the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. Monies for a single grant may come from more than one of the Community Foundation’s endowed funds. Youth Mini-Grants The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation (MPACF) invites mini-grant applications that address the needs of the youth in Isabella County. Since 1993, the YAC has advised the MPACF Board of Trustees on youth related grants, including those developed by youth themselves. What kinds of projects will be funded? The YAC is most interested in funding projects that address the needs of youth through personal development programs (art, music, fitness, etc.); after-school recreation/social activities;  job development and opportunities;  leadership activities; volunteer programs. The YAC's most recent Youth Needs Assessment identified the most important issues facing youth today as follows: Bullying (personal threats, gossiping, internet harassment, etc.)Stress/School PressureDepression/suicide/lossAlcohol and drug abuseSelf‐esteem/Respect for self and othersFamily issues (divorce, abuse, finances, etc.)
