Winter Grant Cycle- Roanoke Valley Children’s Fund Grant

The Winter Grant Cycle of the Roanoke Valley Children’s Fund supports nonprofit organizations serving children from prenatal care to age five in the Roanoke and Salem areas. This initiative aims to enhance existing resources, create new opportunities, and promote awareness of early childhood development. By investing in the community, this fund aspires to build healthier lives and productive citizens from the very start, ensuring a brighter future for the region's children.

Community foundations began nationally in 1914 and are publicly-supported, 501(c)(3) philanthropic organizations that hold, administer, invest and make grants from both endowed and non-endowed funds established by individuals, families and others. They were designed to be simple, flexible, convenient, tax-wise, cost-effective and perpetual charitable vehicles.
Today, we administer many hundreds of named endowment funds ranging in size from a minimum of $10,000 to millions of dollars. To date, donors have also committed very significant resources to the Foundation through future estate gifts.

Eligibility

Geographical areas:Organizations located in, and serving Cities of Roanoke and Salem, and the counties of Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, and RoanokeThe Foundation supports qualified nonprofit organizations.

Ineligibility

What Does the Foundation Typically Not Support?
Foundation grants are usually awarded for the accomplishment of a definite purpose within a specified time period - normally not more than one year.
The Foundation's discretionary funds typically do not support deficit reduction, capital campaigns or endowments, fundraising events, sectarian, fraternal or religious programs, or individuals.
