Overview

Background The WHEDA Foundation, Inc. was established by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) in 1983. Since 1985, the Foundation has administered the Housing Grant Program and is responsible for receiving and administering housing grant funds on behalf of the Authority. Recently, the Foundation has expanded its scope. As a philanthropic partner, the WHEDA Foundation generates financial support for initiatives that complement the work and mission of WHEDA. Mission The WHEDA Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing housing and economic opportunity for the residents of Wisconsin. Housing Grant Program The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and the WHEDA Foundation, Inc. make available grant funds through the annual Housing Grant Program competition. The Program’s mission is to assist organizations with the improvement of housing for community members with complex needs, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people experiencing intimate partner violence, individuals with incomes at or below 30 percent of the area median income, youth experiencing homelessness, and people with mental and behavioral health conditions. The Foundation will award $2,000,000 to assist in the development and improvement of housing facilities throughout our state that provide housing for people in crisis.
