WHEDA Housing Grant Program

The WHEDA Housing Grant Program, established by the WHEDA Foundation in 1983, supports organizations improving housing for individuals with complex needs in Wisconsin. The Foundation aims to enhance housing opportunities for vulnerable populations, including those with disabilities and experiencing homelessness. With $2,000,000 in grants, the program focuses on developing housing facilities that address crises faced by residents. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, local governments, and community development authorities.

Background
The WHEDA Foundation, Inc. was established by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) in 1983. Since 1985, the Foundation has administered the Housing Grant Program and is responsible for receiving and administering housing grant funds on behalf of the Authority.
The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and the WHEDA Foundation, Inc. make available grant funds through the annual Housing Grant Program competition.
The Foundation will award $2,000,000 to assist in the development and improvement of housing facilities throughout our state that provide housing for people in crisis.

Eligibility

Nonprofit organizations or cooperatives organized under Chapters 181, 185, or 187 of the Wisconsin Statutes
Community development, redevelopment, and housing authorities
Local units of government
Native American Tribal authoritiesOrganizations throughout Wisconsin that provide emergency shelter, transitional residences, and extremely low-income housing are encouraged to apply for grants from the WHEDA Foundation.
