Committee for Disability Inclusion Grant

Award Amount: Up to $5,000

Geographic Scope: Dane County, Wisconsin

Focus Areas: Programs supporting the inclusion of children and youth with disabilities in community experiences

Mission Update: The goal of this grant has changed from previous years. It now focuses on the inclusion of children and youth with disabilities into community experiences and programs that all children can enjoy, rather than disability-specific programming alone.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a tax-exempt public charitable organization (501(c)(3))

  • Must attach IRS Determination letter

  • Services must primarily benefit children and youth residing in Dane County who face special challenges (economic, developmental, physical, and/or social)

  • Cannot be a private foundation per IRS classification

  • Cannot be religious organizations unless services are non-doctrinal and in specified areas of interest
  • Grant Uses:

  • Enhancing effectiveness of existing programs

  • Making startup efforts possible

  • Supporting pilot projects

  • Building inclusive programs
  • Submission Requirements:

  • Each budget category must be specific and clear

  • Must include a method for evaluating the impact of funded activities

  • Description of activities must be succinct and clearly connected to at least one specified area of interest

  • Organizations may submit only one distinct project per committee per funding cycle

  • Cannot submit the same project to multiple committees

  • Proposals must address inclusion, integration, and community presence for children and youth with disabilities

  • Must describe characteristics of participants both with and without disabilities

    Application Process

    1. Complete the Committee for Disability Inclusion Grant Application Form
    2. Submit by March 1 (postmarked/emailed)
    3. Include required materials:
    - Copy of IRS 501(c)(3) Determination letter
    - Organization name and identifying information
    - Contact name, address, telephone, email, fax
    - Tax Exempt I.D. number
    - Payee information (if check should be made to different name)
    - Organizational mission and purpose statement
    - Approximate current annual budget
    - Main sources of support and percentages
    - Project title
    - Amount requested (up to $5,000)
    - Two-sentence summary including project goals and number of participants
    - Whether submitting different proposals to other committees
    - Detailed project summary including:
    - Specific activities and experiences
    - How grant promotes inclusion, integration, and community presence for children and youth with disabilities
    - Outcomes sought and data collection methods
    - Characteristics of participants both with and without disabilities
    - Selection process including any outreach
    - Detailed budget breakdown by category
    - Other funding sources and amounts
    - Summary of past Kids Fund impact (if previously funded within past 3 years)
