Western Arts & Culture Scholarship

Overview: The Western Arts & Culture Scholarship offers an exciting opportunity for all Northern Nevada high-school graduates, even those who are enrolled in college, to share their interpretation of our western heritage through their creative expression.

Geographic Scope: Northern Nevada high schools in the following 14 counties (excluding Clark County, Esmeralda County, and Lincoln County)

Eligible Creative Expressions:

  • Written material

  • Musical delivery

  • Dance

  • Visual art such as video, photography or painting

    • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have graduated from a Northern Nevada high school

  • High school graduates currently enrolled in college are eligible

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA at time of application required

  • Applicants must be documented (undocumented applicants are ineligible)

  • Must maintain 3.0 college GPA or equivalent

  • Must enroll as a full-time student

  • Must declare a major at an accredited Nevada System of Higher Education institution or out-of-state accredited college/university if major not offered in Nevada

    How to Apply

    Application Process

  • Application deadline: February 8 (5:00 PM)

  • Notifications: on or before April 26

    • Required Documents:
    Documentation should demonstrate creative interpretation of western heritage through chosen medium (written material, music, dance, video, photography, or painting)

    Application Notes:

  • Submit through same application portal as Reno Rodeo Foundation Scholarship

  • Applications received after posted deadline will be deemed ineligible

  • Incomplete applications will be deemed ineligible
