Overview

UEC Academic Scholarship

Purpose: Designed to encourage and recognize the academic achievements of UEC members and/or their dependent children to assist with college education.

Geographic Scope: Morrow or Umatilla County high school graduates

Eligibility:

Applicant, applicant's spouse, or parents/legal guardians must be active UEC members receiving service at their primary residence

High school graduates (including GED recipients and home-schooled graduates) from Morrow or Umatilla County

Entering college in the fall of the school year for which the scholarship is given

Award Amount: Minimum of 14 scholarships at $3,000 each; total of $42,000 awarded annually

Selection Criteria:

Grade-point average

Work experience

Participation in school and community activities

Two 1-page essays on long-range goals and significant challenges or accomplishments

Recipient Obligations:

Attend UEC Annual Meeting during year of scholarship award

Use scholarship for educational costs only
