THF/FACTS Financial Aid Application

Program Type: Tuition assistance scholarship for Catholic elementary school students on Long Island

Geographic Scope: Long Island, New York (35 Catholic elementary schools)

Grade Levels: K-8

Award Amount: Up to $3,500 per student

Eligibility

• Any family with a student entering grades K-8
• Attending Catholic elementary school on Long Island
• Demonstrating financial need
• Awards based on economic circumstance and financial need from the prior tax year

Award Criteria

Scholarships are awarded to eligible students based on:
• Financial eligibility and funding availability
• Household size
• Reported income and expenses of the prior tax year
• Date of application completion with all required documents submitted and verified

Application Timeline

• Application Opens: Late January
• Recommended Deadline (Round 1): April 30th for priority consideration
• Extended Period: Applications accepted throughout summer on rolling basis
• Award Distribution: First-come, first-served basis as funding is limited
• Priority Consideration: Applications completed by April 30th receive priority; after this date, applications still accepted but with lower priority
• Notification: Decisions sent via email and mail on rolling basis after application completion

Important Notes

• Eligible applicants awarded until funding exhausted
• Earlier application completion improves chances of review
• Only completed applications considered
• Applications marked complete after all required supporting documents submitted and email confirmation received from FACTS
• Families must submit new application each year (past awards do not guarantee future awards)
• Award money transferred directly to school; school deducts award from tuition
• Appeals process available for families experiencing extenuating circumstances (job loss, major illness, etc.)
