SWE–OC Graduate Student Scholarship Grant

The SWE–OC Graduate Student Scholarship, awarded by the Society of Women Engineers, supports female graduate students pursuing engineering degrees at accredited California universities. Established in 2021, it aims to empower women in engineering by providing $800 to eligible candidates. Selection criteria include academic performance, community involvement, and leadership potential. Recipients will be honored at the SWE-OC Professional Development Conference in May, fostering a supportive network for future engineers.

Orange County Section Scholarship
The SWE Orange County Section (SWE OC) was originally part of the SWE Los Angeles Section. In the early 1980s, the Los Angeles section had more than 400 members and was the largest section in the US. Before SWE regions were dissolved, SWE OC hosted the Region B conference in Anaheim, CA. The residual funds from hosting the conference along with funds from region dissolution helped SWE OC to endow a scholarship in its name awarded for the first time in the fall of 2021. The SWE OC Scholarship supports women, SWE members studying engineering at California universities within the boundary of SWE OC.
SWE-OC will award one Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $800.
Evaluation will be based on academic performance, work experience, community involvement, letter of recommendation, and evidence of leadership, motivation, character, and plans to pursue a career in engineering. The recipients of each scholarship will be announced & celebrated at the SWE-OC Professional Development Conference held in May.

Eligibility

The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:Identify as a Female Must have at least one full academic year left before graduation Enrolled at an accredited college or university in the Orange County area of Southern California. If you are entering a graduate program, you may apply, however, proof will be required before fund disbursement.GPA of 3.3 or higherCurrently pursuing a graduate degree in engineering, engineering technology, or computer scienceAvailable to applicants in California only.
