Summer Campus Experiences Scholarship

Purpose: Provides scholarships for UA 10th-11th grade students to attend high school summer campus experiences to build skills in college readiness and academic exploration.

Geographic Scope: University Academy students, grades 10-11 (Kansas City, MO area)

Program Goals:

  • Build confidence navigating a college campus and acclimate to on-campus life

  • Enhance knowledge and experience in a field of study

  • Learn about potential majors or intended major

  • Experience college classes

  • Increase social skills by interacting with college professors and students from different backgrounds

  • Increase college acceptances and scholarship opportunities

    • Program Eligibility Criteria:
    Programs must be on vetted list and meet at minimum these criteria:

  • On a college campus

  • Housing included in the program (if overnight)

  • Academic focus

  • College credit available

  • Not-for-profit program

  • Published program itinerary

  • Published program affiliations

  • Financial aid is available

    • Program Selection:

  • Current vetted program list available from UA college counselor

  • Counselor may refer students to particular programs

  • Students can review vetted list to determine best fit
