Student Emergency Fund

Purpose: Provides up to $300 of financial support to UA alumni currently enrolled in college who are unable to meet essential expenses due to temporary or unexpected hardship that jeopardizes their ability to continue their education.

Geographic Scope: University Academy alumni (Kansas City, MO area)

Award Frequency: Students are allowed emergency fund assistance once per school year.

Eligibility Requirements:

• UA alumni currently enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4-year college
• Able to provide documentation of financial hardship
• Students seeking assistance during summer who are not enrolled but are registered for fall courses also qualify
• Primarily for undergraduate students (grad students are typically not eligible)

Types of Eligible Expenses:

• Utilities or rent
• Medication/prescription expenses
• Books or school-related expenses
• Replacement of belongings lost in fire or natural disaster
• Safety-related needs (e.g., lock change, emergency shelter)
• Tuition assistance to help remove account holds

Key Information:

• Separate from College Incentive Program (CIP) awards
• Emergency Fund assistance is awarded in addition to CIP award if eligible
• Applicants must complete form and provide documentation of hardship
• Foundation will follow up for additional questions about situation
