Overview: The Student Opportunity Fund (formerly the Academic Opportunity Fund) provides educators and schools with the resources they need to bridge opportunity gaps and create a level playing field for all students. The program prioritizes grants that expand access to resources, opportunities, and support for students from marginalized and underserved communities.

Eligible Funding Requests

• Individual or small-group tutoring
• Extended learning and enrichment opportunities
• Test prep and other supplemental educational support
• Guest speakers and author visits
• Class fees and materials*
• Software or technology to support learning*
• Mental health resources and belonging materials or initiatives
• Multicultural resources
• Career/College readiness resources
• Requests focused on student access to education
• Transportation expenses

*Curricular and technology requests must be run through the district prior to approval and grant awarding.

• Applications are solicited from BVSD educators
• Focus on students from marginalized and underserved communities
