Student Emergency Grants

Program Description: The South Seattle College Foundation, coupled with the Gates Endowed Emergency Grant, provides emergency fund grants to support student success, retention, and completion, enabling students to overcome temporary financial barriers.

Funding Details:

  • Maximum award: $1,000 per calendar year

  • Frequency: Limited to once per calendar year

  • Deadline: No deadline for applications; submissions can be made at any time during the quarter
  • Approved Uses for Emergency Funds:

  • Housing

  • Transportation

  • Family/household emergencies

  • Childcare

  • Medical expenses

  • Food

  • Books and supplies
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a current South Seattle College student

  • Must be enrolled in one or more classes

  • Must be pursuing a Financial Aid eligible certificate, degree, or BAS program

  • Must have completed at least one quarter at South Seattle College

  • Must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher

  • Must be applying for assistance for the current quarter
  • Application Process:

  • Applicants meet with Emergency Fund Committee members

  • Submissions can be made at any time during the quarter
