SMCF General Grant Program

Funder: Sierra Madre Community Foundation (SMCF)

Geographic Scope: Sierra Madre, CA and surrounding community

Mission: Distribute funds to support Sierra Madre activities, events, organizations, and programs to help make Sierra Madre the unique and wonderful community that it is. Engage with the community such that Sierra Madre maintains its local charm and sense of community. Support the city so that it thrives and continues to be a unique hillside treasure and valued neighborhood for families, businesses, and community groups.

Funder Status: SMCF is recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Non-profit and nonpartisan organization.

    Funding Focus Areas

    Based on recent grants disbursed, SMCF funds a wide range of community initiatives including:
  • Education and youth programs (school gardens, art programs, science workshops, literacy contests)
  • Community events (Halloween Happenings, Trail Races, cultural events)
  • Public safety and emergency services (Search and Rescue, Community Emergency Response Teams)
  • Health and wellness (Cancer support programs)
  • Cultural and recreational organizations (library programs, theater, arts groups)
  • Infrastructure and facility improvements
  • Historic preservation

Application Deadlines

Applications are reviewed at SMCF Board Meetings held on the 3rd Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Completed applications must be received by the first Friday of each of these months to be considered at that month's Board Meeting.
