Skeeter Shields Scholarship

Overview: Mayor Stanley B. "Skeeter" Shields served the City of Maryville from 1967 through 1999. Upon stepping down as Mayor in 1999, the community honored him through donations to provide a scholarship fund for Maryville High School seniors. Since his passing in 2002, the scholarship has continued as a way to remember his spirit of giving and service to our community.

Geographic Scope: Maryville City Schools, Maryville, Tennessee

Award Details:

One annual scholarship of $1,300

For fall semester of first academic year

One-time award per recipient

Eligibility:

Maryville High School seniors

Enrolling in a four (4) year college or university

Plans to enhance the lives of other people through profession and/or community service

Demonstrates good citizenship

Shows commitment to community

Demonstrates volunteerism
