Lamar Alexander Scholarship

Overview: The Lamar Alexander Scholarship was established in 1995 through a partnership with the Lamar Alexander Family and Maryville City Schools Foundation. The $1 million grant came from the Lockheed Martin Corporation Charitable Award Fund at the Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program.

History: Senator Alexander recommended the Maryville City Schools Foundation for the one-time grant in 1995 when he was a private citizen and a member of the Lockheed Martin board of directors. Lockheed Martin Corporation created the Charitable Award Fund to allow members of its board of directors to fulfill their commitments to support communities.
