Presidential Scholarship

Overview: Annual $5,000 scholarship awarded to one first-year college student planning to major in business. This award is a gift from Georgia's Own Foundation President & CEO, David A. Preter, designed to help shape the next generation of credit union leaders.

Award Amount: $5,000 per year to one recipient

Geographic Scope: Georgia (residency requirement)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Primary member or child of primary member of Georgia's Own Credit Union for minimum 3 months, with account in good standing

  • Georgia resident

  • Currently enrolled in 12th grade at a public, private, or accredited home school

  • Entering an undergraduate major at an accredited institution's business school for the first time in 2026-27

  • Planning to major in business

  • Must complete application in full with accompanying documentation by deadline

  • Home school applicants accepted with proper accreditation paperwork
  • Ineligible Applicants:

  • Officers, Directors, Supervisory Committee Members, Employees, Vendors, Agents, Successors and Assignments of Georgia's Own Credit Union and Foundation

  • Immediate family members (spouse, mother, father, in-laws, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children, grandchildren) of ineligible parties
  • Judging: Entries judged by the Preter family in conjunction with a third-party panel of experts

    3. Submit 60-second video (maximum :60 in length)
