Program Description:
The internship offers immersive training in the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model. Interns function as Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) embedded within interdisciplinary primary care teams, addressing a wide range of behavioral and biopsychosocial concerns while delivering same-day, high-volume services to patients across the lifespan.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Address behavioral and biopsychosocial health concerns

  • Serve as educators and change agents to normalize integrated behavioral health

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Education: Completion of all formal academic coursework for doctoral degree (other than dissertation/doctoral project) from a degree-granting program in professional psychology (clinical, counseling, school)
  • Exams: Comprehensive examinations successfully completed
  • Master's Degree: Completion of a master's degree (or educational equivalent)
  • Clinical Hours: Completion of a combined 300 Intervention and Assessment hours
  • Dissertation: Dissertation proposal approved by match ranking deadline
  • APPIC Match: Approval to participate in the APPIC National Match
  • Experience: Past experience in integrated care teams, primary care settings, rural/underserved areas preferred (not required)
  • Skills: Interest in brief interventions; ability to work on integrated care teams; self-motivated; high energy; dependable; prepared; curious; non-defensive; open to constructive feedback
