Background The work of local nonprofit organizations impacts the quality of life for everyone in Owen County. Recognizing the essential role they play in the economy and health of our community, OCCF is committed to sharing knowledge about the nonprofit sector and strengthening nonprofit organizations through grants and training. The Owen County Community Foundation administered more than $480,000 in 2021 in community grants and contracts, primarily through nonprofit organizations. Our core programs and community impact initiatives are designed to strengthen nonprofits and solve community problems while delivering solid results and leveraging relationships. Food Pantry Assistance Grant The Food Pantry Grant Program supports nonprofit food pantries in providing food to Owen County residents. Since 2006, the Freeman Charitable Food Fund has granted over $223,899 to local food pantries. In 2025, OCCF will distribute $18,841.00 in Food Pantry Grants, based on the population served and other considerations.

If your organization does not meet these criteria but your project meets the OCCF’s charitable goals, we may be able to partner you with a fiscal sponsor, so please contact our office for assistance.Eligible OrganizationsOrganizations must:Be a nonprofit or government agency in good standing with state and federal tax filings.Provide Federal Tax ID numberHave a voluntary board of volunteersMaintain a non-discrimination policy (race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation).Charitable organizations without IRS designation must:Have a sponsoring nonprofit for fiscal management.
